RULES GOVERNING PLAY
- All players must be of South Asian descent. If a player is suspected of not being of South Asian descent, viable evidence must be provided to ensure his ethnicity.
- NCAA Rules Apply except for special tournament rules. A team can start and play with 4 players. Game time is forfeiture time. If a team cannot field 4 players, then they will forfeit the game and the score will be 2-0. The forfeited game will not count for or against the opponent as it will be marked as a win and the total average will be used for advancement purposes.

Clock:
- Games will consist of 2 halves. There shall be a 16 minute running clock for each half with a 3 minute half-time break. In addition, the clock will stop on all whistles during the last 1 minute of first and last 2 minutes of second half if the opponent is within 20 points. The clock will stop for free throws in the last 2 minutes of the second half. The clock will not stop on made baskets inside of the last 2 minutes. NOTE: In Playoff Round games will consist of 20 minute running clock for each half.

Overtime:
- In case of a tie, a 3 minute overtime period will be played with the clock stopping in the last minute on all whistles. One additional time out is allowed per overtime. If after two overtime periods during round robin play the teams are still equal, the game will be ruled a tie and both teams will obtain 0 points in regards to point differential. OT games will add +1 or -1 in regards to point differential.

Time Outs:
- Each team is allowed TWO FULL 1 minute time-outs per half.

Free Throws:
- After the 6th foul, teams will be in a 1-1 bonus and on the 10th foul we will shoot 2 shots. All technical’s are 2 shots and point of interruption as per NCAA rules. No FT’s for player-controlled fouls. All team fouls will be reset per half.

Player Ejection or Un-sportsman like Conduct:
- Any player who is ejected from a game (before, during, or after the game) will be required to sit out the next game unless the FOI 2010 basketball committee feels more severe action should be taken. Please be aware that striking at a player, official or any other participant or spectator automatically results in ejection from the remainder of the tournament.

Jerseys:
- Players on each team must wear jerseys of the same color with legible numbers on the backside on each player's jersey. If teams have more than one jersey, please bring them to the tournament.

Lineup:
- Lineup must be given to the scorekeeper ten (10) minutes before the game time. Scorekeepers should be only interrupted during a dead ball. If the scorekeepers are constantly interrupted during game play, they will advise the referees, who will issue a warning and then technical fouls will be assessed for every infraction after that.

Bench:
- ONLY the players, 2 coaches, and the assigned team scorekeeper may be seated in the bench area. All others must be seated in the stands or away from the bench. This is not negotiable and will be strictly enforced.

Advancement:
- Teams will be ranked 1-4 in their division.Top two ranked teams from each Division will advance to playoffs plus next 2 teams overall (12 teams total). The playoffs will be conducted in single elimination form.

Ranking Criteria:

The following criteria will be used to rank teams in their divisions. They are listed in order of importance.
- Best overall record
- Head to Head
- Point Differential (Avg. if necessary)
- Total Points Allowed
- Total Points Scored
- Coin Flip

- If three or more teams are tied, then the best point differential will be used to determine the winner of the division. The remaining two team's order will be based on head to head for seeding purposes. The results of the team not involved in the tie are not used.
